水准仪的操作要点：

在未知两点间，摆开三脚架，从仪器箱取出水准仪安放在三脚架上，利用三个机座螺丝调平，使圆气泡居中，跟着调平管水准器。水平制动手轮是调平的，在水平镜内通过三角棱镜反射，水平重合，就是平水。将望远镜对准未知点（1）上的塔尺，再次调平管水平器重合，读出塔尺的读数（后视），把望远镜旋转到未知点（2）的塔尺，调整管水平器，读出塔尺的读数（前视），记到记录本上。
